Hazard Insurance

There is no doubt that dangers lurk everywhere. No place can guarantee 100% security and safety from physical harm or property damage. This is the reason why aside from homeowners insurance, more and more people are looking into the possibility of added protection in the form of hazard insurance.

Hazard insurance provides added peace of mind to homeowners, giving coverage against property damage which may be caused by certain natural occurrences/disasters like earthquakes, fires, severe storms, etc. Depending on the property’s location, coverage against floods may also be included in the policy.

There may be some confusion as to the difference between homeowners insurance and hazard insurance (some people use them interchangeably), but hazard insurance deals more with specific dangers to a property. However, some homeowners insurance policies already provide coverage for specific dangers, so it’s still best to ask the insurance broker regarding the policy. All in all, reading the policy’s fine print would be an excellent idea, well worth the effort.

It’s natural for people to secure their properties and their loved ones to the best of their abilities. If that means looking around for more options, or getting a separate insurance policy for specific dangers, so be it. The most valuable possessions can never be too protected.
